Russian Tea by Masque Milano, perfume for men and women
The day faded; upon the table, gleaming, the evening samovar hissed… (A. Pushkin)
Act I Scene III
There, the snow-covered Nevsky Prospekt and a sumptuous Art Nouveau building. Inside, a great bookshop. And, on the first floor, an elegant café. As water is poured into the cup, the infusion releases its most characteristic notes. Black tea, heavy and intense. A floral note, sharp and biting. And that unmistakably dry, smoky aftertaste given off by the caravanserai bonfires, meant to keep the precious cargo of tea dry on the endless journey through Siberia. Fresh mint leaves lend a pleasant cool touch to the hot water.
A teaspoon of raspberry jam sweetens, without altering it, the bitter aftertaste of leather and birch. We drink it slowly, gazing out the wide window, toward the beautiful Kazan Cathedral of Our Lady and beyond. Today’s Russian Tea Ritual took us on an unexpected journey through remote lands, full of mystery and fascination.
